Weddings & Commitments

Creating your dream ceremony…

Choosing a celebrant to lead your wedding or civil partnership ceremony means your commitment to one another can be expressed in a way that feels right for you. By getting to know you and your stories, as well as your likes and dislikes when it comes to the ceremony itself, we can work as a team in creating a beautiful and memorable service, where you will always have the final say.

With no set rules or restrictions for your ceremony, the emphasis can be on your relationship, your story, what brings you together, and what your future holds.

How does it work?

The first thing to bear in mind is that celebrants in England are not yet able to perform legally binding marriages or civil partnerships. So the legal part will need to be done beforehand with a registrar or other licensed officiant. This can be a very simple and cost-effective process, and then you can look forward to the fully bespoke celebrant-led ceremony of your dreams – with no restrictions on time, place or content.

If that sounds good so far, then the first step is to contact me for an informal chat about your wedding plans, so I can tell you a bit more about the process and you can decide if I’m the right celebrant for you.

If you decide to book me for your big day then we will set a date to meet in person – at your chosen venue if possible – so we can begin to plan the ceremony in full. At this meeting I can help you prepare meaningful vows, aid in choosing readings, poems, songs, and ways of getting those you love involved in the day.

After our meeting I will go away and write the ceremony, and will share it with you well in advance so we can make any edits or changes you require. As your celebrant, I am acting on your behalf, and you will always be in control of what is or is not included in the ceremony. I am here to advise, make suggestions and write you a beautiful service.

On the big day itself I will arrive at your venue in good time to make sure everything is set up just to your requirements, and will conduct your ceremony with warmth, love and celebration. You will also get a keepsake copy of your script and a certificate (if you choose to sign one) as a memento of the day.

Things to consider…

There’s lots to think about when planning a wedding, but I’ll be on hand to guide you through and provide plenty of ideas. Here’s a few things you may want to consider before and during our meeting:

  • Any music or readings you would like to include
  • What you would like to promise to one another in your vows
  • Any religious or spiritual elements or customs you would like to incorporate
  • Anecdotes, stories and memories to include
  • Ways in which you would like your family members or friends to contribute to your ceremony.
